Hello & welcome to Wild + Rooted Life!
We are a family who sold our home, purchased a 5th wheel camper, with a goal of traveling around the country.
It was so funny when we started to tell others what our plans were. Some were very skeptical. Some people thought we had lost our minds. But a majority were and are, super supportive. We’ve had several tell us that they wished they had done the same thing when their kids were younger. We came to the conclusion that we will never look back and say we wish we didn’t do this… rather it will be a memory (the good and the challenging) that we will fondly look back on and talk about when our kids are grown.
So we jumped!
It started with downsizing our belongings, beginning house repairs, and getting our home listed. After being on the market for about one month, it went under contract! We began moving the rest of our belongings into a storage unit, we purchased our 5th wheel, and began our new journey!
As I write this first blog post, we are about 1 month into the journey. And oh boy, have we learned all the things. Ha! That will probably require several blog posts on its own.
But I want to get back to “our why”. That phrase is thrown around so often, and honestly I get a little annoyed hearing it. But it is SO important! Because when (not if) things get hard, and you are questioning everything, you have to remember why!
I’ve never been one to have a single answer for anything, and this isn’t any different. We have several whys which also tie into our name: Wild + Rooted Life.
WILD- I love the term free-sprit. I have always been the wild-child, who dreams about running barefoot through a field of wildflowers during sunset, with banjos playing in the background. My sweet husband is one of the most calming spirits I know, and this is such a gift to everyone he meets. He keeps an even temper in situations that would send most into a panic. He also tends to be quite the adrenaline junky, never shying away from the chance to do something daring. The Lord knew what he was doing when we brought us together, these characteristics pair so nicely with each other. Sharing a spirit of adventure, one of us a dreamer & one of us the voice of reason, we have a desire to live wild.
ROOTED- With our wild spirits, we know our true freedom comes from Jesus & our salvation in Him. This is our purpose & our calling. To serve the Lord in all that we do: with our marriage, striving to serve one another as Jesus would. With raising our children who are an absolute gift and bring endless joy & laughter to our lives. With homeschooling them to allow them to follow their passions & give them an education rooted in love & in truth. We want to use this life that He has blessed us with to serve others in any way that we are called to.
We want to create a life that honors the Lord, and bears only His fruits.
So, follow our journey. It is imperfect. Kind of crazy. And most of it we are figuring out as we go. (Including this whole blogging thing! Ha!) Our hope is that you will see beauty amongst the ashes, and a life that glorifies God.
